Over the past two weeks the Utah Jazz have gone 7-3 and established themselves as a playoff team. The combination of six home games, some scrappy rookies, a desperate coach and two all-star players have gotten them to this point.
Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer have been playing some of the best combined basketball for the Utah Jazz that I have seen since the late nineties. I'm not saying they deserve statues but they are playing very good basketball right now.
Carlos Boozer is possessed and unless you are a complete idiot he has showed everyone that we are much much better with him, than without him.
Boozer is the third highest scoring PF in the League (second in the West) behind Dirk (27.2) and Bosh (25.2) at 20.1 points per game. He only averages 4.8 Ft's a game which is four less than Dirk and six less than Bosh but has upped his FT % to 84 percent this year last year he shot 69%.
If you haven't noticed he is also shooting lights out at .557 % which is second in the league for PF right behind Amare Stoudemaire.
Boozer is fifth in the league and First in the west at 10.9 rpg ahead of Duncan, M. Gasol, Bynum, Okafor, and Randolph. Boozer has also improved his game in other areas of the game. Boozer is second in the west in assists for power forwards and fourth in the league at 3.6 pg.
Among power forwards once again he is second in the West for steals per game at 1.18 which is nowhere near the top of the league but for his position, he is killing it. Last but not least double doubles, Boozer is first in the west and third overall with 11 dd's in 17 games.
Summary- Carlos Boozer is overall the second best PF in the west right now slightly behind Dirk Nowitski who is having an MVP type year. Boozer is statistically better than Duncan in every category, including head to head victories (Jazz 2-0 over Spurs). I realize that we are only 20 games into the season and there is a long way to go. However, if Boozer continues his great play through the next 7-8 weeks then he should be starting for the Western Conference All-star team, not by votes, not by popularity, but by playing his position better than anyone else in the league.
